Begin the Upgrade Process


Run the Windows Server 2012 Setup.exe
Done
Select  Microsoft Updates before upgrading
Done
Select the OS Version make sure select GUI
Done
Select Upgrade: Install Windows and keep files, settings and applications
Done
Server Reboot will require multiple reboots
Done
Finish, check the server functionality
Done



Detailed Upgrade Process

Mount the 2012 ISO to the Server that you want to upgrade.
Run the Setup.exe


Click on Install Now


Click on No thanks for Updates at this point.
  • If you need to apply updates click on Go online to Install Updates.


Select the OS Version that you want to install
  • In my scenario I will  select Windows Server 2012 Standard (GUI)

Accept license terms and click Next



Select,  Upgrade: Install Windows and keep files, settings and applications



Check if you have any application that is incompatible and upgrade the application before upgrading the server.


Click Next to begin the Upgrade Process



The server will restart






It will reboot again and now it will be getting devices ready.


Server Upgraded to 2012 successfully




Now your server is upgraded to Server 2012.
